Mary Ann's Story
I always wanted to be a bookkeeper when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a crazy idea. As it turns out, they were wrong.
I worked as an accounts receivable clerk out of high school and after I had two babies I went to work on Andrews Air Force Base as an accounting clerk for Central Base Funds. My husband was in the Air Force so we moved around a lot. After a tour in the Philippines we had another baby. er setting up books for clients, had a knack for chart of accounts and learned to do financials, AP, AR, and tax returns. Working for a sole proprietor was great experience but had no future. I got a job with the Housing Authority in my home town. I took several college accounting courses, plus annual training from HUD and various software developers allowed me to grow in my career. I retired after 20 years and really hated to leave. I can see God's hand in my career growth, so I volunteer at my parish with the "collection ladies" preparing deposits and posting contributions to parishioners accounts. I love it!
